More Olive Green and Flared Jeans |The Blanket Cape Fall 2016

Blanket Cape Trend Fall 2016

This post is a large compilation of Fall 2016’s biggest trends, Olive Green, Flared Jeans and the newest of the trends that happens to look like a poncho but is referred to as the Blanket Cape. This purchase was from Primark. If you watched my haul, I purchased a beige one but swapped it for this rich olive green perfect for the fall. I wore this on a night that almost felt like winter , but the  did its job and kept me warm enough.  I kept the makeup  and the color palette as simple as possible, guiding the eye to naturally focus on the cap. I styled the cape with a short sleeve tee underneath and one of my favorite recent purchases from H&M a flared pair of jeans.

The Blanket Cape is a fall must have with its ability to be a statement piece that is not over bearing and allows you to be stylish and warm. The various options and styles of these capes are amazing and can become a basic piece in you’re fall wardrobe as well. You can mix and match the different color options with things that are already apart of your wardrobe. Some even have the reversible option, so you have 2 pieces in 1.

Flared Jeans like I mentioned a few months back in this post, are on the rise in different leg widths, some more dramatic than others and some more tapered like these. My current goal is to get ones similar to the ones I am wearing, tapered and fit on the legs but with a more dramatic flare at the end. I have my eye on a few and soon enough there will probably be a post on them. How would you style a blanket cape? Make sure to go to the end of the post with details on where to purchase one and some inspo.  View Post

It’s officially fall ! That means a shift in our wardrobe color palettes and more layers for the cooler crisp air and crunchy leaves. I have a love hate relationship with fall, as with all seasons, but when it comes to fall fashion, who doesn’t love it? Before the temperature took a dip and the official fall date was approaching, I already started filling my room with shopping bags stuffed with warm colored and thick fall clothing. My eyes and my hands have been wandering towards the fall colors like oranges and greens and to the hats and scarves.

For this outfit I picked out one of my favorite fall colors Olive/Army Green. In the UK they would call this color Khaki. (In the states Khaki is like a beige color.) This color is ideal all year round but in the fall it definitely stands out more against everything else that is either really warm (color wise) or really cool. The green stands out in the middle and can be paired in anyway. You can add some army green to your fall wardrobe by grabbing a parka, a cargo jacket, a pair of army green pants and even a blazer. The options are endless and can be incorporated in any look.

Almost this whole outfit is unintentionally from Zara. I combined my army green skirt, which is a recent purchase with steel toned gray fringed crop top to bring some character. To seal the deal I also added a “neutral” shoe which are my cheetah pumps, also from Zara to mix it up a little more. I am not sure how I came up with this outfit but my creative juices definitely have the credit for this one. To tie the whole look together my adorable little bucket bag that looks like a Mansur Gavriel look for less from H &M. *shoutout to Olivia* Accessories were kept simple with my everday pearl earrings and watch giving for a minimal feel.

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer to fall transition. I know everyone is hoping fall takes its time and winter stays away for as long as possible, at least I am. As the weather this weekend was on the cooler side, I took advantage and brought out the thicker clothes and layers. I brought out my favorite piece(s) from my Primark Haul. Initially, the co-ord set seems a little much and definitely stands out, but with the right accessories the set does the talking for itself. I chose to do exactly that by adding a statement necklace from H&M and my Zara lace up sandals. I also wore a blue tank underneath as you may or may not notice. The tank keeps it classy and clean. Who says you can’t wear a set like this without showing skin? As I mentioned in my haul video, the set is made from a knit material making it warmer. The material gives the right amount of stretch enough to walk, but not too much that it feels like you went up a size. The set is also perfect for mixing and matching with other pieces such as jeans, a different skirt or a denim top. I’ll be featuring this in my upcoming lookbook. How would you wear this set?
