Hints of Red

Red is a year round color that looks good on everyone, has and will always be a thing. But a rather new trend has been the hinting of red, but with colors you’d least expect .Typically, red is paired with blacks, blues and whites but lately red has been seen alongside colors like gray, army green and camel. At first some of the combinations, like army green +red, seem a little weird  and off, but it grows on you, I PROMISE. The hint of red adds a little personality + character, spice, uhmf, whatever you want to call it, to your outfits, especially when you’re going for the minimalist look. Take a look at how you can incorporate hints of red to your outfit of the day below and try it ! Tag me & share your outfits of hints of red on the Facebook page or on Instagram !

The Famous Camel Coat

The Camel Coat definitely won #MustHaveoftheYear and #CoatoftheYear ! Finally, after months and months of searching I finally got my hands on the most desired, sought out, chased, loved … CAMEL COAT that has been taking over the fashion world. Every coat I tried on in the past was either awkwardly big  or did not give me the right “over-sized” look. A random shopping trip during my lunch break that I shouldn’t have taken into H&M presented me with 50% off and an additional 30%. To get the more of the over-sized look, I went up a size (6). To keep it minimal I had to do the all black everything look, creating a faux turtle neck dress : with a turtle neck top + cotton midi skirt.

Mixing, Matching & Clashing Patterns + Prints

Mix + Matching , Mitch + Matching, Clashing, Prints or Patterns ! Whatever the term they are one in the same . . .  if done properly. Mixing patterns is an easy way to add some life and fun to an outfit. You can mix patterns with accessories : a scarf + purse / scarf + shoes or with many pieces like a top + skirt or two shirts like I did recently during the holidays for a more casual look. Here in Boston it was in the Mid 50’s on Christmas Day so I didn’t even wear a jacket. The no mixing patterns “rule” is a thing of the past and has been completely embraced for a few seasons now so there is nothing to be afraid of. So Mix & Go !

Bringing the 90’s Back : Turtle Neck Obsession

As a kid, they were the ugliest and the most uncomfortable thing to wear. I’m sure as a kid we were all forced to wear them, especially here in Boston with our long winters. Since the early fall season, Turtle Neck’s have tip toed their way back into collections and I especially  have allowed Turtle Neck’s to make their way into my closet since the 90’s. I call them the perfect 90’s lovin’ look. I have two in every single neutral color. The ribbed fabric versions, which allow for texture mixing and play, sweaters and sleeveless sweaters are also fun. My newest obsession is also the minimalist look and turtle necks are perfect for the clean slate vibe, whether casual or slightly dressed up.

With a neutral gray turtle neck a night time look can be a easy with a jacket and shoe swap.

With the same neutral gray turtle neck a completely different look can be made playing with textures and more neutral colors. Mixing neutrals is my new favorite thing to do.
