Who said only tall women can pull off maxi dresses? Don’t be fooled, I am barely 5 feet. Ever since wearing a gown for a recent wedding, I have become more intrigued to wear maxi’s. I am used to wearing maxi’s here and there during the summer but maxi dresses can be taken past the level of casual into the world of chic. The beauty of these dresses are they can easily be made chic, with the simplest details. Any type of statement or key jewelry, a necklace or earrings can make any maxi dress stand out. If I decided to go for a pair of statement earrings, a silver sandal and an elegant updo, this look could definitely double as a wedding outfit. Also, sleeves on a maxi dress, regardless of the weather is a great look. As fashion has grown, so has the style options for maxi dresses. There are gowns, maxi’s with sleeves, maxi’s with a mermaid cut and even maxi cardigans and plaid shirts. Explore the different maxi’s styles during the approaching fall weather.

I combined my sleeved maxi dress with a statement necklace, keeping everything else minimal yet chic. I purchased this dress for our annual National Youth Conference at my church. I bought this dress completely on a whim and a had no idea how I was going to wear it. The dress’ material was very soft and stretchy and its pleats were perfectly placed. The back of the dress had a cutout, which I covered with a similar colored tank. I originally planned to use lace, but unfortunately could not find a matching one. Because of my height, or lack there of, I closed the slit to above my knee, since it was a lot higher. To complete the look I added a pair of nude sandals and my tribal-esque statement necklace. The silver necklace went perfect with the blue undertones in the periwinkle fabric. I followed this cool toned them with my makeup, with a cool toned eye and gray-ish nude lip.

Fear no More

fear

This post is for anyone and everyone who may going through a tough time, trial or tribulation. I want to tell you that the God above all is always in control. The situation you maybe facing now may seem like you have no control, let own God. The word of God says in Romans 8:28 , that all things work for the good of those who love Him, God. He works in mysterious ways, His plans are much higher than ours and His logic is far different than human logic. Do not fear, do not worry because He took upon him all of our transgressions and iniquities so that we may have peace, Isaiah 53:5. Life is full of challenges, obstacles and difficulties but life isn’t impossible. God will always provide a way to get through whatever we maybe facing at any period of time. He took our worries, iniquities, sickness, problems away before our earthly existence. He planned ahead and promised that we would have a life with abundance, John 10:10. So whatever you struggled with yesterday, whatever you struggled with today and whatever you may struggle with tomorrow, he has already found an eternal solution. The solution you may need is in Him, He is the solution and He will provide you with the proper grace and understanding, if you don’t think so, just ask.  I want to encourage everyone to never give up or fear whats ahead and trust in the God who loves you. Matthew 11:28-30. His love runs deeper than your mind can ever understand. He can love you more in a single moment, than any other lover could love you in an entire lifetime. His love is unconditional and perfect. His love is real and pure. He is love.

Shop Fringe Skirts

Hope everyone had a great weekend especially as the summer is winding down. This weekend I finally made a purchase I didn’t need to make. I’ve been on a shopping challenge where I don’t shop unless completely necessary aka I have to be ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED with an item. Considering  the amount of things I used to buy and still have tags, this is a huge step. The first step is admitting you have a problem, right?

Well lets move on to the highlighting purchase. This purchase from Forever21 was a steal because of quality and the price. There nothing like a basic skirt that has tassel fringe for some pazzazz. As mentioned in many of my posts, fringe lovin’ is a thing and it is everywhere. I have and have seen fringe skirts that are made from the same cloth as the skirt. This one is a little different as it is a tassel fringe, that is made out of thread. You can wear a skirt like this either super casual and street style or super dressy and chic. I opted for the more street style-esque look. I also wore a basic H&M midi skirt underneath it to extend the skirt, this is obviously optional. To complete the street style look I added a Calvin Klein t-shirt, which is definitely making a comeback in the world of fashion, my lace up sandals from Zara and of course my handy dandy camo jacket and my favorite clutch. I chose the clutch to add a little color and only grabbed my camo jacket because of the gloomy weather but it worked out anyway, adding texture and character. Check out these two posts to see how you can add the lace up trend and the fringe trend to your fall wardrobe.

Shop the Lace Up Trend

Winding down to the end of summer and rolling up to cooler days of fall, Lace Up everything will be all the verge. Lace ups seem to be an extension of fringe with the string details. Lace up tops and all types of lace up of shoes.. Designer brands and department store brands have incorporated this detail to atleast one type of shoe, rather it be a pair of flats, heels or both. Lace up tops have also been a big hit, some of them being a little risque than others but definitely great for bringing life to fall outfits. With fall around the corner and colors switching towards the neutrals, adding lace up will bring out all the right kinds of details without worrying about incorporating bright colors. But be careful don’t splurge on this trend, its definitely here to stay for A/W season, but let’s see how far it gets into S/S season.
