FINALLY, A long overdue OOTD/OOTN post. I haven’t been keeping up with my outfits lately with my busy schedule. The very few times I did catch my outfits, they were taken on my phone or taken for Snapchat. However, this weekend after getting my hands on my favorite shoe for this season from Zara, I had to make a post about them. These shoes from Zara have been floating around, more like bombarding, social media with its fringe and tassels. Suddenly, Zara dropped an unexpected bomb, giving us one NUDE. With a closet full of black shoes and without second thoughts I made my way to Zara and added them to my closet. These are a wonderful Designer on a Dime – DD for the Stuart Weitzman fringe sandal that I mentioned in a previous Trendin’ Tuesday post. Actually this whole outfit hints back to the that post, combining suede and fringe.

Lately I’ve been loving adding different neutrals and patterns to things and the whole matchy- matchy idea has gone out the window, almost like creating a palette with my outfits. These nude sandals can go with anything with its bone color. So I decided to double up on the fringe with my purse and add some camo flare to the mix. I stood in the mirror for a little before walking out the door but I liked the camo + minimalistic feel from the basic neutral colors with a double dose of contrasting fringe with the shoes and purse. I continued the minimalism with the jewelry, a simple double chained necklace and chunky but sleek bangle.

To see where you can add fringe to your looks, check out my Trendin’ Tuesday post.

Designer on a Dime | #DD – Chanel Espadrilles

Target Deal // Vince Camuto // Tory Burch & other option  | Steve Madden BlackStoned & Gold & High Tops // Zara 1 & 2

ESPADRILLES. I’m still trying to figure out how its pronounced. When these babies by Chanel came out two years ago, I remember everyone going crazy for them but of course with a price tag starting at $595 (canvas style) not too many were crazy about the price. These shoes, Espadrilles caused a scene two years ago and two years later we finally have options that are more practical and easier on our pockets.  These super trendy shoes are perfect for the spring and summer. They can be paired with any outfit:  a casual weekend outing + a nice summer dress for work. Even little North West and Penelope have a pair !

Last year I remember Aldo having a pair that looked identical to the Chanel version, however after trying them on the structure of the shoe was extremely flat making it awkward and uncomfortable to walk in. Other brands also made their versions of the shoe but nothing stuck out to me like the ones from this year. Brands like Zara and Steve Madden took their designs a little further and added some flavor with the different styles. Steve Madden created ones with different materials and added some height to their espadrilles. They also recreated the high top version of the Chanel Espadrilles. Zara jazzed up their espadrilles with different materials, one including a glitter-ry look.

As for the ones that look most similar to the Chanel Espadrilles, the only thing missing is the large CC plastered on the top of the shoe and of course the quality of the material, but if you’re not running through mud or running track and field you should be fine. The best deal you can get for your money are the Target Espadrilles * inserts drum roll* for $25. Target’s version come in two other colors, black & leopard print. The next two options, if you like the finer things in life or just like good quality and don’t want to risk it you can try the Vince Camuto’s that are $99 or the Tory Burch’s that are $135 made of a canvas material and with the Tory Burch emblem on the black portion of the shoe.

Also in case you were wondering what makes and Espadrille an Espadrille and not a regular pair of shoes. Going back as far as 4000 years, originally it is a shoe that is made with espart or esparto, which is a tough, wiry grass from the Mediterranean that is used to make rope. So if you see any  flats, wedged heel, sandals with the roped sole and labeled espadrilles don’t be confused, its the roping style that makes it what it is.

Hope you’re just as excited as I am and grab a pair, even multiple pairs with the different styles that are available, I know I am. I’m also pretty sure Target is currently having a buy 1, get 1 50% sale right now, so the more the merrier, right? Also, take a look at the outfit inspo below and see how you can add some espa’s (just made this up flavor to your closet !

Instapiration : Weekend IG Recap | 70s + Denim on Denim

This past weekend was filled with events and dinners celebrating friend’s birthdays, which made some outfits that I loved. But having to lug around a DSLR to take pictures when you’re going back and forth between places, running late and being in a rush, in comparison to carrying your iPhone can be a bit of a hassle. Although I did not have my DSLR camera I was able to capture my outfits with my phone that made there way to Instagram and thought I’d share here. Instagram + Inspiration = Instapiration * going to need to trademark that

The first outfit was for dinner and bowling in the city and I decided to take a trip to the 70s.  Like I mentioned in my last post and previous posts, the 70s and 90s era are definitely back and not leaving for a while. I was almost extra 70s with a denim shirt and a white duster coat, but I though t it looked too Doctor-ish. So I opted for my gray duster coat that I was been dying to use.  So it was more a laid back friday night, so I decided to finally bring out my “bell bottoms” that I purchased from H&M after struggling for two weeks on deciding what size I was, a constant struggle of mine. The top is also from H&M and its an off the shoulder, stretchy material. I had to grab my highest pair because I am just about 5 foot nothing and the pants still dragged a little on the ground. If you want to really want to go for the 70’s look a platform or a high wedge would be your best bet. For the cut that these kinds of pants have its highly unlikely that your shoes will even show.

For the next night out, after church we went out to eat in the city, again. I found a denim skirt from the Winter Zara Sale that was very much Kim-esque. I had it for a few months now and I was sick of waiting to wear it, so I re-did the denim on denim look that we’ve seen Beyonce, Rihanna, Kim & most recently Kylie do, with a very old H&M denim button down shirt. Boston doesn’t seem to understand that its technically spring, so I had to add the camel coat to keep warm but I still wore my sandals from Zara.

Trendin’ Tuesday on a Thursday : Fringe + Suede

Fringe + Suede in Spring = Springe ?

Fringe + Suede, Suede + Fringe these together and separate are taking over the spring and summer collections. Last year we saw the fringe trend starting to spread a little in the accessories; purses + clutches. When the fringe trend was starting here, this time last year it had already made it’s way in places like Brazil. The fringe, suede fringe, leather fringe, suede jackets and skirts, fringed jewelery is now everywhere from normal stores to designer. You won’t have to go fringe crazy and have everything fringe but you can gradually add them to your closet so you can rock this trend. If you get your hands on a fringe accessory, like a jacket or a purse, those will be in for more than just the summer and won’t cost you a fortune.

I am completely obsessed  with the leather fringe skirt and the fringe heels the most and will have to get both. The #11 are by Stuart Weitzman and #8 are from Steve Madden are very similar, the Steve Madden’s are a much affordable version and slightly different. However Zara does have a pair that are very similar except they only come in black which I will feature in a #DD, Designer on a Dime, next week. I’m also digging #9 because it can double for a simple look or for night out on the town and being from Zara the quality will last you for a while.

This week’s Trendin’ Tuesday came on a Thursday because I posted my video on the blog on Tuesday so I thought I push it back a little but it works.
